The Interconnected Pathways Of Anxiety And Upper Digestive Health Webinar
Anxiety disorders are prevalent and can significantly impact an individual's quality of life. However, what might surprise many is the bidirectional relationship between anxiety and upper digestive health. The relationship between the digestive system and mental health is garnering increasing attention within the integrative healthcare community. The upper digestive tract potentially plays a role in this connection, particularly concerning occasional anxiety.
Symptoms of anxiety may be inexplicably tied to upper gastrointestinal discomfort or dysfunction. While often considered two separate issues, addressing the connections between upper digestive health and anxiety simultaneously may improve outcomes. Patients primarily presenting with anxiety as well as patients primarily presenting with upper gastric dysfunction may be addressed similarly.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the clinical relationship of anxiety and its connection to upper gastrointestinal discomfort or dysfunction.
Explain the role of the gut-brain axis in connecting the central nervous system and the enteric nervous system.
Assess how elevated levels of cytokines can influence brain function and contribute to the development of anxiety disorders.
Explain how essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins affect brain health and anxiety.
Propose dietary adjustments, supplementation, and lifestyle modifications to manage anxiety and improve digestive health.
The webinar recording lasts 62 minutes, including a Q & A session.
