The diagnosis of Lyme disease remains controversial in the medical community and there is poor recognition of persistent or chronic illness. Conventional medical treatment suggests a short course of antibiotics can adequately treat Lyme disease, yet many of those infected go on to suffer from ongoing symptoms even if they received early and appropriate therapy.
